The Gospel begins with the creation of the world. God, who is perfect and Holy, made all of creation for his own glory and pleasure. God created men and women in His image and likeness. God created us to know Him, to glorify Him, and to live in His presence. He gave us the earth and all that is in it to rule over, and to care for.
THE FALL OF MANKIND
God knew personally and had fellowship with Adam and Eve. But, even in a world that was completed perfect in every way, where they had everything they could ever want or need, the first humans rebelled against God by violating the one stipulation he placed upon them, which was not to eat of the fruit of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. In Adam, sin entered the world, and now every person that has ever lived is guilty in the eyes of God. What once was a beautiful creation has now been destroyed by the effects of sin. Everyone has sinned and turned their backs on God. Not one of us live perfect lives before God. On our own we are guilty before God, and as a result, we cannot fully know Him.
Instead of destroying His creation, God had mercy on us, and pursues a relationship with us. He made it possible through the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ, the Son of God who lived a perfect life. He redeems us and forgives our sins, putting us in right relationship with Him, and gives us new life in His Son. God empowers all believers to follow Him and obey Him.
Because of the resurrection, when Jesus returns, God will restore perfection to His creation. God will again be with all believers and for all eternity in a new heaven and new earth. This was accomplished because of Jesus' work on the cross. God's church, those who have experienced salvation in Jesus, testify and tell of the new creation.
The Gospel is a message of hope to all people and an invitation from God to a new life in Christ. This message demands a response.
The Bible tells us how to respond to God. Repent and believe the Gospel.
Repent: This means to turn from ones sin or way of life.
Believe: To believe the Gospel is to believe that Jesus death is your only hope of salvation. It is an acknowledgment that your good works are never good enough and never will be good enough to satisfy God. It is believing that Jesus life counts for your life and His death is the death you deserve.
Commit: To truly believe and place one's faith in Jesus is to surrender one's whole life to Jesus as Lord. As Jesus said: If anyone wants to come with me, he must deny himself, take up his cross and follow me". (Mat 16:24)
Jesus also tells us that salvation is a free gift to all who desire it.
“And let the one who is thirsty come, let the one who who desires take the water of life without price. ”
— Revelation 22:17
